The Oyen United Church was the host for the 2016 World Day of Prayer in Oyen. Along with representatives from the Anglican, Missionary, Catholic and Lutheran churches, we presented the service written by the Women of Cuba which focussed on providing care for the children of the world.
We heard Cuban music, viewed a video that gave an quick lesson on Cuban culture and challenges, shared hymns and prayers together. Readers from all of the churches gave their voices to the words the Cuban women provided, allowing us to more fully understand their joys and sorrows.
This is the third year that this event has been held at the Oyen Lodge and we are so grateful for their hospitality. Approximately seventy people joined us for this celebration and worship time.
The service was followed by a time of food and fellowship...featuring a delicious Cuban "Tres Leches" Cake...a sweet cake made from three types of milk.
Thank you to all the coordinators and volunteers who pulled everything together.
The Oyen Evangical Missionary Church will be our hosts for 2017.
