A bunch of churches began working together as the Big Country United Churches cluster. It was great to connect with our faith family around this area.
Together we have found the strength to say goodbye to some of our congregations whose faith called them into different directions. We did this work with dignity and support and offered a welcome to those who moved their membership to other congregations.
Together we join in conversations. learning about our faith, our national church and how to live into the changes ahead.
In 2017 the Pioneer Pastoral Charge was formed by the 'official' joining of Acadia Valley, Cereal, Empress and Oyen United Churches.
While Empress has bid farewell to it's congregation, our neighbour to the East has come to join us. In mid-December the National Church gave permission for us to grow! What a wonderful Christmas present.
As of January 1, 2018 the Alsask United Church will be an official member of the Pioneer Pastoral Charge. This formal joining is a committment to share more fully in worship and in ministry.
We welcome Alsask into the Pastoral Charge... well, really, they are already here, working with us and offering their skills and wisdom to our joint passion of serving God in the world.
