On March 4th, a marathon day of Annual Meetings was held at the Oyen United Church. Alsask, Cereal, Oyen and the Pioneer Pastoral Charge all met to discuss the plans for 2018.
Out of the wonderful but challenging conversations came the realization that we need to do some work to get our budget on track.
The difficult decision was made to encourage our Minister to find a temporary 1/4 time position in another Pastoral Charge for a six month trial period.
Cereal United Church has stepped forward to offer an increased allocation to the Pastoral Charge for the next two years, Oyen United Church is planning a visiting campaign to encourage folk to consider how they might financially support the church.
This time of telling our story, and re-prioritizing what we are doing will help us be more aware of the richness that our churches off to their communities. We are hoping that, out of this we will be able to bring our Minister back into our communities full-time again.
We are very grateful for all of those folk who take the stewardship of their church seriously and are willing to work toward keeping it part of their community in the future.
