Country and Gospel Music Concert

What a Night!

On Saturday, March 5, we packed over eighty people around tables in the Oyen United Church Sanctuary to hear musicians from Oyen, Medicine Hat, Sundre, Calgary, Esther and Sibbald give us a wonderful musical evening.  

Hosted by the Celtic-folk Trio Soulstice (which includes Oyen singer/songwriter Sheila Andersen, Dan Singleton, and Cathy Buchanan) the two hour show had a wonderful mix of country and gospel songs. 

We heard music from Jake Yake, Jordan Yake, Gary Christensen, Michael Christensen, David and Cyndy Eaton, Shaune Switzer, Glenn Bamber and Soulstice. Delbert Pratt added a couple of Cowboys poems to the mix for good measure. 

Toes were tapping throughout the night, and we even sang along to some old favourites! You can tell the musicians hit the mark when the crowd rises for a standing ovation at the end of the evening!

Light refreshments were available throughout the evening.

We are so very grateful for the volunteers who helped to put this evening together: Musicians who donated their time and talent, pew shifters and furniture movers, table decorators, coffee makers, cookie bakers, picture takes, clean-uppers who put us all back together again ready for our Sunday Morning service.
