Good Friday is a day when we revisit Jesus final days and the final journey to the cross.
We remember that an innocent man was sacrificed because those in leadership were corrupted by the power they held.
We remember that fear put regular people in a position of deciding for their self preservation even if it meant staying with oppressors or deciding to follow an unknown future.
We remember the absolute dedication of a man to fight for justice, to show mercy, to love people even at their worst because he knew that their best was yet to come.
We remember the power of God to lift us out of the darkness, to be with us, among us, within us.
In this time of COVID-19, when we, too, are fearful, when leaders must be aware of the enticing power they hold that can save lives or take them, when we are called to give all we have for justice and mercy and love in the world, may these stories remind us of God with us.
