This is World Food Sunday... and originally the plan was to speak about the balance of abundace and scarcity of food in the world. How are we sharing... or not.
But as the week unfolded, the focus of the scriptures appeared to shift. We are moving toward the election vote to be held tomorrow (Monday, October 21) and, unfortunately, the rhetoric is getting more and more angry and fearful and truth is becoming scarce or deliberately hidden. It appears as though we have forgotten that we are to look after each other.
So the scriptures became a reminder that our faith is to guide our daily actions and decisions. That we need to listen to the stories of the people who are poor and powerless. That they are the ones that should guide our vote, our decisions.
So... how will we excercise our faith? how will we bring justice to a world in pain, in pieces?
God's love is written on our hearts... let's share it.
